Hi, I’m Summer
For 18 years, I worked with school aged learners figuring out how to make complex ideas click for 25 different learners at once. I learned early that the learners learn best when it isn’t about just dumping information. Learners learn best when content is relevant, relatable and engaging.
That same philosophy drives every learning experience I create at Sage Learning.
I’ve spent 20 years studying how people learn — first in a classroom, then in the corporate world.
After nearly two decades in education, I transitioned into corporate instructional design. There I discovered that most workplace training had the same problem as bad classroom lessons. It was built to cover content - not to change behavior.
I spent years in corporate L&D managing Learning Management Systems, building training libraries, monitoring compliance training, and creating e-learning that employees can actually engage with. I learned exactly what separates training that sticks from training that gets clicked through as fast as possible.
What I learned in both worlds is the same thing: people don't learn from information dumped on them. They learn from experiences that feel relevant, real, and worth their time.
What I bring to your training
Corporate L&D Experience
I’ve built training libraries, managed LMS platforms, monitored compliance programs, and created e-learning and other digital resources for corporate teams.
20+ Years in Education
I know how people learn — not in theory, but from more than 20 years of watching people engage with content and figuring out what actually works.
Learning Experience Design
I design scenario-based e-learning, microlearning, and interactive training built around real workplace situations — using the format that best serves the learner and the content.
My Approach
I believe that great training starts with genuine empathy - for the learner who has to sit through it and for the business owner who needs it to actually work. Every learning experience I design is built around real workplace scenarios your team will recognize, clear learning objectives tied to actual job performance, and design that respects your employees’ time and intelligence.
A little more about me
When I’m not building training, you’ll find me checking out the Richmond restaurant scene, spending time with family and friends or researching exotic travel destinations. I started Sage Learning because I believe every team, regardless of budget deserves training built with purpose and care.
